Photography business coverage in Ohio.

A complete Ohio photographer insurance program protects your equipment, your professional services, and your clients.

Equipment Coverage (Inland Marine)

Covers cameras, lenses, lighting, tripods, drones, computers, and production gear against theft, damage, and loss — at your studio, in your vehicle, on location, and at venues. Full replacement value. No sublimits.

Professional Liability

Covers client disputes — a wedding photographer who misses key shots, a commercial shoot that doesn't meet the brief, or a client who claims your work was unusable. Essential for any photography business.

General Liability

Covers client injury and property damage during shoots. A client trips over your equipment, you accidentally damage a venue, or a guest is injured at a shoot you're running — GL covers these claims.

Media Liability

Covers copyright infringement, invasion of privacy, and defamation claims arising from your published images. Essential for commercial photographers and anyone who publishes client work.

Business Interruption

Covers lost income when a covered equipment loss prevents you from shooting. A stolen camera kit during wedding season is a covered loss — BI replaces the income you can't earn while replacing your gear.

Drone Coverage

Covers your drone against damage and loss, and provides liability coverage for drone operations. FAA registration and drone liability are separate from your standard equipment and GL coverage.

Studio Property

Covers your studio build-out, backdrops, props, lighting rigs, and studio equipment against fire, theft, and covered perils. Important for any photographer with a dedicated studio space.

Cyber Liability

Covers data loss, hacking, and ransomware affecting your client image files and business data. Losing a wedding gallery to a ransomware attack without cyber coverage means paying out of pocket or losing the files.

Photographer insurance in Ohio — what you need to know.

My camera gear was stolen from my car — is that covered?

Only with inland marine equipment coverage. Your homeowner's or renter's policy has strict sublimits on business equipment — typically $2,500 or less — and your personal auto policy doesn't cover contents stolen from your vehicle. A $10,000 camera kit stolen from your car is a total loss without dedicated equipment coverage. Inland marine photography coverage covers your gear anywhere in the world — in your car, at a venue, at a client's home, or in transit.

A wedding client claims I missed all the key shots — can they sue me?

Yes — and they do. Wedding photography disputes are one of the most common professional liability claims in the photography industry. A couple who feels their wedding photos don't capture what they paid for can claim breach of contract and professional negligence. Professional liability coverage pays for your legal defense and any settlement or judgment — regardless of whether the claim has merit. Without it, you're paying for your own legal defense out of pocket.

A venue requires me to carry $1M in liability and name them as additional insured — can you do that?

Yes. This is a standard request from wedding venues, corporate event spaces, and commercial properties. We build photographer policies with the liability limits required for venue contracts and the ability to add additional insureds as needed. We can provide certificates of insurance quickly so you never lose a booking over an insurance requirement.

Do I need separate insurance for my drone?

Yes. Your standard photography equipment policy may not cover drone operations — and your GL policy may exclude aerial operations entirely. Drone coverage is a specific endorsement or separate policy that covers the drone itself against damage and loss, and provides liability coverage for drone operations. FAA Part 107 commercial drone operators in Ohio should carry dedicated drone liability coverage for every commercial flight.
