INSURING SINCE 2008.

Standard business insurance leaves adult venues dangerously exposed.

Strip clubs and adult entertainment venues operate in one of the highest-liability environments in the hospitality industry. Alcohol service, late-night crowds, physical performance, and the inherent risk of assault and battery incidents combine to create an exposure profile that most standard insurance carriers refuse to underwrite.

The result is that many adult entertainment businesses operate with inadequate coverage — or coverage that has exclusions they don't know about until they file a claim. Standard General Liability policies almost universally exclude assault and battery claims, which is your biggest exposure.

Myers Insurance Group works with carriers that specialize in adult entertainment, nightlife, and high-risk hospitality venues. We build policies that actually cover what can go wrong in your specific environment — without the moral judgment other agents bring to the conversation.

The coverage gaps most adult venues don't know they have

Your GL policy almost certainly excludes assault and battery. This is standard in most commercial GL forms — and assault claims are your highest risk exposure as a nightlife venue.

Liquor liability is not included in GL. Alcohol-related incidents — DUI accidents, intoxicated patron injuries, over-service claims — require a separate liquor liability policy.

Employment practices liability is critical. Adult entertainment workplaces face elevated risk of harassment and discrimination claims. Standard policies don't cover this.

Performer classification matters. How your performers are classified — employees vs. independent contractors — affects your coverage obligations significantly.

Adult entertainment venue coverage in Ohio.

Adult entertainment insurance requires specialty coverage that goes beyond standard commercial policies. Here's what a comprehensive policy looks like.

Liquor Liability

Your most critical coverage. Covers claims from intoxicated patrons — DUI accidents, fights, injuries caused by over-service. One alcohol-related lawsuit without this can permanently close your venue.

General Liability

Covers slip-and-fall, property damage, and general third-party injury claims. Must be written on a form that does not exclude adult entertainment operations.

Assault & Battery Coverage

Standard GL policies exclude assault and battery claims. This endorsement or separate policy covers fights, altercations, and physical injury claims — your highest-frequency risk as a nightlife venue.

Employment Practices Liability

Covers harassment, discrimination, and wrongful termination claims from employees and performers. Adult entertainment workplaces face elevated EPLI exposure — this coverage is essential.

Commercial Property

Covers your build-out, stage, lighting, sound equipment, furniture, and fixtures against fire, theft, vandalism, and covered perils.

Workers Compensation

Required in Ohio for employees. Covers injuries to bartenders, security staff, and venue employees. Performer classification affects coverage — we help you get this right.

Crime & Theft Coverage

Cash-heavy businesses are prime theft targets. Covers robbery, employee theft, and cash handling losses.

Commercial Umbrella

Adult venues face catastrophic liability potential. An umbrella policy adds excess protection above your primary coverages — strongly recommended for any nightlife operation.

Business Interruption

Covers lost revenue when a fire, vandalism, or covered event forces you to close temporarily. Late-night venues generate significant nightly revenue — protecting that income matters.

Adult entertainment insurance in Ohio — what you need to know.

Why won't most insurance agents write adult entertainment coverage?

Most captive agents — those who work for a single carrier like State Farm or Allstate — simply don't have access to carriers that write adult entertainment policies. And many independent agents decline on personal or moral grounds. Myers Insurance Group doesn't operate that way. We work with specialty carriers that understand this industry, and we don't judge the businesses we insure.

Does my General Liability policy cover a fight that breaks out in my venue?

Almost certainly not. Standard General Liability policies contain assault and battery exclusions that eliminate coverage for exactly this type of incident. You need either an A&B endorsement added to your GL, or a separate assault and battery policy. This is non-negotiable for any adult nightlife venue in Ohio.

Are my performers covered under my Workers Compensation policy?

This depends on how your performers are classified — employees or independent contractors. Misclassification is a common and costly mistake in adult entertainment. We help you understand the classification correctly and make sure your Workers Comp coverage aligns with your actual workforce structure.

Does Ohio require adult entertainment venues to carry specific insurance?

Ohio liquor control requirements mandate minimum liability coverage for establishments with liquor licenses. Adult entertainment licensing at the local level may also require proof of insurance. Operating without adequate coverage puts your licenses at risk in addition to your financial exposure.
